Club rules and policies

Club nights

• Sign-in closes at 7:10 PM. If you arrive later you can still play casual games and join the chouette.
• Entry is $5 a night or free for members. First visit free.
• The knockout is 5-point matches, single elimination with a consolation bracket. Clocks are optional unless both players agree.

Tournaments

• Entry fees are paid out in full unless the flyer says otherwise. Added money comes from the club and sponsors.
• Clocks are used in all tournament matches. Standard settings: 2 minutes per point plus 10 seconds per move.
• Byes are given by lot. A player who cannot make a scheduled round forfeits it.
• Refunds: 100% up to 48 hours before, 50% up to 24 hours before, none after that.

Ratings and points

• Only matches reported to the director on the night are rated.
• Season points follow the scale on the standings page. Ties are broken by rating.

Conduct

• Be kind to newcomers. Everyone was one.
• Disputes go to the director whose decision is final on the night.
• The venue is a café: buy something, tip well, leave the room as you found it.
